"Big" Scholarships


  • Posse

    Founded in 1989, Posse identifies public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential who may be overlooked by traditional college selection processes. Posse extends to these students the opportunity to pursue personal and academic excellence by placing them in supportive, multicultural teams—Posses—of 10 students. Posse partner colleges and universities award Posse Scholars four-year, full-tuition leadership scholarships.

    Amount: Covers full tuition

    Requirements:
    1. Be nominated by their high school or a community-based organization.
    2. Be in the first term of their senior year in high school. Depending on the Posse city, nominations are often taken between the spring and early August before the new school year begins.
    3. Demonstrate leadership within their high school, community or family.

    4. Demonstrate academic potential.
  • QuestBridge

    QuestBridge is a powerful platform that connects the nation's brightest students from low-income backgrounds with leading institutions of higher education and further opportunities. We are an aggregator of excellence. By facilitating these exchanges, QuestBridge aims to increase the percentage of talented low-income students attending the nation's best universities and the ranks of national leadership itself.

    Amount: Covers full tuition

    What They're Looking For: Academic Achievement:
    • Students in the top 5% or 10% of their class.
    • Have received mostly A’s grades in the most rigorous classes available. (AP's, IB's, Honors, etc.)
    • Scored > 1250 (Critical Reading +Math) on the SAT or > 27 (Composite) on the ACT.
    Financial Qualification:
    • Household income is less than $65,000 a year, and often less for a typical family of four, with minimal assets.
    • Eligible for free or reduced-price lunch.
    Personal Circumstances:
    • First generation in their family to attend a four-year U.S. college.
    • Unusually high level of family responsibility (caring for siblings, part-time work to support family financially, etc.)
    • Extracurricular achievements, such as leadership or community activities.
  • The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship

    An achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors each year. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, and their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities.

    Amount: $20,000

    Eligibilty Requirements:
    • Current high school (or home-schooled) seniors attending school in the United States (or select DoD schools)
    • U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, U.S. Permanent Residents, Refugees, Asylees, Cuban-Haitian Entrants, or Humanitarian Parolees
    • Anticipating completion of high school diploma at the time of application
    • Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution
    • Carrying a minimum 3.00 GPA at the end of their junior year of high school
  • Buick Achievers Scholarships Program

    It starts with good grades. But goes beyond.

    The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program rewards students who have succeeded both inside and outside of the classroom – and who may not be able to attend college without financial assistance. It’s a reward for what you’ve made of yourself and the difference you are making for others.

    Applicant Qualifications:
    • Be high school seniors, high school graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduate students.
    • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university based in the U.S. or Puerto Rico. Proprietary and online schools are not eligible.
    • Plan to major in a specified course of study that focuses on Engineering, Technology, Design or other programs of study related to the automotive industry.
    • Demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in the automotive or related industries using these areas of study.
    • Be U.S. citizens and have permanent residence in the United States or Puerto Rico.
